Coach Resources

All of the coaches for Holy Redeemer Soccer Club are volunteers. We need a head coach and an assistant coach in order to field a team so we truly value and appreciate those who are able and willing to step up into these roles.

Registering as a Coach

If you would like to be a coach for our club, you need to create and log in above and register yourself as a coach. IT DOES NOT COST ANYTHING TO BE A COACH. All coaches have a background check that is done after you register so you must complete this process. You can designate which category you would like to coach so that our registrar can make the appropriate assignments.

Practice Schedules

Practice schedules are based on our coach's availability so you will have input on when you will hold practice. Our head coach puts together the practice schedule each season so the sooner we have a finalized list of coaches, the sooner the practice schedule can be set.

Coach Training

Portland Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) and Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) periodically offer clinics. Check their websites (OYSA, PYSA) for the latest information.

Practice plans are available on the PYSA website to help give you the tools for having successful and productive practices at any age category. Click here for the practice plans.

Concussion Information for Coaches

It is important for coaches to be familiar with the concussion for our club. Each family agrees to the concussion compliance required to play for Holy Redeemer Soccer Club. In addition, coaches need to know the protocol for handling concussion injuries. Our website has concussion information here. In addition, please know that there are forms needed when a player suffers a concussion as well as when that player returns to practice or play in a game; in particular a medical release from the player's physician. Those forms are available on the PYSA website.

Raising and Coaching Kids

Bandage scraped knees. Kiss away fears.
Watch their heartbreak and dry their tears.
Teach them to know what's right and what's wrong.
Show them how to be gentle and when to be strong.
Tell them you love them, and then let it show.
That's the easiest part of helping them grow.
There needs to be discipline, but don't over do it.
Praise and encouragement strengthens their spirit.
Show them respect for their feelings and thoughts.
They should know their important, self worth can't be bought.
Show them some patience and always be kind.
Developing minds make mistakes time to time.
Teach them to be the best they can be.
When they're happy within,
WHAT A RIDE LIFE CAN BE!
